Who am I

I am a well rounded, bilingual, accounting professional with analytical skills, a world class customer service perspective, and a strategic mindset for growth.

I am an accountant, a marketer, a designer, and a project manager, but before all of these, I am a server, as in serving tables in a restaurant. I have a natural passion for serving others. I love serving, and I have learned the elements of world class service. Hence my approach to business is to 1) focus on enhancing the customer’s experience today, and 2) invest in technology to enhance the customer’s experience in the future. I have a world class customer service perspective.

I obtained a bachelor’s of science degree in Accounting from George Mason University, and an associates of science degree in Business Administration from Northern Virginia Community College. I worked hard to finance my way thru college and can proudly say that I am the first generation of immigrants in my family to graduate with a college degree in The United States. I am very proud of myself, and you should be very proud of your accomplishments as well.

I am from El Salvador, and I proudly carry my roots and cultural traits to our day to day operations. Culturally, I am a traditionalist, and I long to preserve my heritage and share it with those I encounter.

I have experience in the construction, restaurants and REITs industries. Specifically, I have experience in the following processes: sales & marketing, management & financial accounting, and internal auditing. I also have experience in individual taxation, and in dealing with the IRS in resolving prior years taxes, payment plans, and OICs.

In addition to having a robust knowledge of accounting, I also possess other skills that are critical in today’s business environment. In particular, I have a thorough understanding of how technology disturbs and impacts operations. I am a millennial, and therefore tech-savvy, and as such I am able to provide Information Technology consulting services as it relates to business processes and needs. In particular, I can advise on POS systems, data gathering, mining and analysis techniques, cloud capabilities and the Google Workspace platform as well as websites creation and social media marketing.

I am a millenial; which means I describe myself as a tech-savvy. I also seek a work-life balance. I have the ability to multitask. I have a deep desire for great achivements; I am open to feedback, I am teamwork-oriented and socially conscious. I stand firm in my beliefs, but I am also very open minded to accept that I can also be wrong, and that others even with their differences can also be right. I consider the topic at hand from various perspectives with a critical eye. I look at data to analyze it and draw conclusions to suggest solutions to propel growth.

I know how to lead in times of crisis. I led our family’s small restaurant business during the Covid-19 crisis. When the pandemic started, we had just opened about 3 months before, and so we were not yet stablished in the market. We had to fight in two fronts: 1) we had to earn market share when the market was confined, and 2) we had to adapt abruptly to the pandemic’s challenges. The key in our approach: remain calm and not make important moves without thought. We were strategic. We quickly developed and deployed a Covid-19 response plan to avoid closure, increase our market share, enhance our technological capabilities to adapt to rapidly emerging business platforms, and promote a positive, enthusiastic, engaged and safe employee culture and work environment.

We can say that my soft skills include: conflict resolution, leadership, communication, cultural diversity acumen and sensitivity, tech-savvy, adaptable, critical thinking, data analysis, adaptability, business knowledge, attention to detail, world-class customer service, GAAP, Coffee expert, from roots to cup. Yes, you read that right. I am a coffee expert and I own a specialty coffee brand: Café de Palo. We serve our coffee at our restaurant at Pupusas Express in Alexandria which we build with our construction company, A&A Construction Group, LLC.
